Some of the finest craft products from Orkney will be on display at Scotland’s Trade Fair in Glasgow this weekend.
One of the largest events of its kind in the country, the Trade Fair will be held at the city's SEC between 20 and 22 January. Thousands of buyers from shops and retailers are expected to attend, giving Creative Orkney members the chance to make connections and find new customers.
Nine businesses will be attending, including Aurora Jewellery, Celina Rupp Jewellery, Fluke Jewellery, Karen Duncan Jewellery, the Orkney Storehouse, Ortak Jewellery, Robin Palmer Ceramics, Sheila Fleet Jewellery and Zoe Davidson Jewellery.
At the same time, six members from Orkney Food and Drink will be attending Scotland’s Speciality Food Show, with the two events run concurrently. The businesses taking part are the Deerness Distillery, J. Gow Rum, Jollys of Orkney, the Orkney Bakery, the Orkney Creamery and the Westray Bakehouse.
Edgar Balfour is project manager for Orkney Food and Drink and Creative Orkney. He said: “There has been a regular Orcadian contingent travelling to these events for a number of years now and they always report positive results. Both shows give our businesses the chance to meet existing customers and also create new connections with potential buyers, which will hopefully mean they can get 2019 underway in style. We’re always keen to showcase Orkney and our talented producers to a wider audience so we’re already looking forward to our visit.”
