Netherbutton are two country cottages with superb views over Scapa Flow (one of Britain’s most historic stretches of water), the buoy marking the war grave of the Royal Oak, Hoy Hills and South Isles.
Situated only 3 miles from the outskirts of Kirkwall in a peaceful location surrounded by farmland and open views in the parish of Holm. A traditional dry stone dyke surrounds the large garden and complements this Historic Scotland listed property and nearby outbuildings. Each cottage has its own separate entrance and parking area for family vehicles.
Both cottages are designed and equipped to a high standard and exceptional care is taken to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness. The rooms are light, airy and spacious and provide comfortable accommodation for your stay here in the Orkney Islands. There is a large well-kept garden for residents use complete with picnic bench and seating. Both the cottages have achieved a very secure 4 star Quality Assurance Award.
Netherbutton Cottages are nearby to many popular tourist attractions including the Churchill Barriers, the famous Italian Chapel, Highland Park Distillery and Visitor Centre and the magnificent St.Magnus Cathedral. The location can provide easy travel with regular bus routes to St.Margaret's Hope, Kirkwall Town Centre and all the popular sites on the Orkney Mainland. The cottages are also close to the ferry terminals for day trips to our outer islands. Kirkwall's busy town centre plays host to many excellent restaurants, museums, shops, pubs, a golf course and a leisure centre that includes a cinema, swimming pool, health and fitness suite.
