Located in the East Mainland, Deerness Distillery welcomes visitors to see and hear exactly what we get up to, sample our range and browse our shop. Cafe serving quality hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes and bakes from 10am to 5pm and hot and cold food from 11am to 3pm.
Spontaneous, self-sufficient, and with a little spirit thrown in for good measure, that’s Stuart and Adelle Brown, founders of Deerness Distillery – Orkney’s first distillery for over 130 years. It is here that they produce their multi-award winning ‘Sea Glass Gin’, ‘Scuttled Gin’, Vara Gin and the UK's most Northerly distilled vodka, ‘Into the Wild’. Add into the mix a multi-award winning coffee liqueur 'Orcadian Moon' and they offer something to suit everyone!
From their purpose-built distillery established in 2016, at the side of their home in Deerness, Orkney, their signature spirits 'Sea Glass Gin' and 'Into the Wild Vodka' were launched back in May 2017, after a year of construction and product development. The distillery boasts a beautiful shop to browse and you are welcome to free tastings of their full range.
The Dashing Deer Kitchen & Bar opened for business in September 2024 offering lunches, light bites and refreshments. The new build also includes the whisky still room and cask storage building. Whisky production commenced in March 2025.
