• The local beautiful sandy beach at Aikerness is next to the ancient Broch of Gurness, a 5 minute car trip away. Locally and throughout Orkney there are coastal walks to enjoy.
• The local shop and post office is approximately 2 miles away. The Tingwall ferry is around 3 miles away and travels to the islands of Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre. Kirkwall and Stromness have the other outer island ferry boats.
• Orkney is a haven for archaeological sites, bird watching, wildlife and fishing. The sites of Skara Brae, Standing Stones of Stenness and Maeshowe are all nearby. Kirkwall has St Magnus Cathedral.
• Ten minutes in the car are a pub, shop and garage in Finstown.
