Creative Orkney brings together traditional and contemporary professional craft makers across the islands to promote, support and develop high quality design-led creative work.
Origins
Founded in 1991, Creative Orkney is run by its members each of whom produce quality crafts. From artwork to jewellery and ceramics to furniture, it's all designed and made here in Orkney. Many have studied their art, craft or design to a high level and several have decades of experience of working and exhibiting their pieces within the sector.
Back in 1995 Creative Orkney launched the Creative Orkney Trail. Following the trail leads visitors to workshops and studios where they have the chance to talk directly to makers and find out how their products are made. It is also a great opportunity to discuss commissioning bespoke work.
