Join a knowledgeable local guide for a stravaig* through the unique, beautiful, historic harbour town of Stromness and enjoy being a temporary local.
This three hour walk will take you through the flagstone streets of Stromness with your guide, who will draw attention to important historical landmarks, shops, businesses and eateries, and many stunning viewpoints.
The experience will also include curatorial tours of the Pier Arts Centre and Stromness Museum, highlighting the heritage, creativity and culture in this thriving town.
Stromness Museum holds the principle maritime, natural history and ethnographic collections for Orkney. Constituted in 1837, it is one of the oldest independent museums’ in the UK. Its fascinating collections share stories of Stromness and its people.
The Pier Arts Centre, Orkney’s five star arts venue, has a permanent collection of 20 and 21 Century modern art on display alongside a changing programme of local, national and international exhibitions.
Bookings for 2024 are now open, with Stromness Strolls available on Thursday 27th June, Thursday 25th July, Thursday 1st August and Thursday 5th September. It may also be possible to arrange bespoke tours - get in touch with the team directly to discuss options.
Tickets cost £40 and there are only 12 tickets available per walk, so don't delay.
Flat, comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing is recommended for the walk and the weather conditions.
