In the 150th anniversary year of French composer Maurice Ravel, Orkney Arts Society presents a solo piano recital featuring Ravel’s masterpieces for piano performed by a pianist heralded for his spectacular musicianship and technical brilliance.

Alongside Ravel’s most famous works – Pavane pour une enfante defunte, Jeux d’eaux, Valses nobles et sentimentales and Gaspard de la nuit – pianist James Willshire will play music by Couperin, Liszt and Fauré, composers who were strong influences on Ravel.

The programme will also feature a work by British composer Lennox Berkeley who studied with Ravel and was greatly influenced by him.

Tickets are £12 for OAS members, £16 for non-members, £6 for under-25’s and £3 for schoolchildren. Tickets can be purchase in advance via TicketSource or on the door if still available.
