Join in this celebration of local film in memory of a stalwart of Orkney's cinema scene.

Billy Scollie worked for many years as the projectionist at the old Phoenix cinema on Junction Road in Kirkwall, before transferring to the new cinema at the Pickaquoy Centre when it opened in 1999.

Billy was passionate about all film but especially footage of Orkney and was a great supporter of Orkney's archive film nights. His sudden death in 2004 was a great shock but in conjunction with the Pickaquoy Centre the annual programme continued, named in his memory as Billy’s Night Oot.

This year, to mark the 20th anniversary of his passing, Billy's Night Oot will include screenings of films by Billy himself, royal visits, sporting events, Kirkwall golf, ancient monuments, the Churchill Barriers, and much more.

It beings at 7.30pm at the Phoenix Cinema at the Pickaquoy Centre on Friday 11th October. Tickets cost £7 (£5 concession) and are available from the box office.
